Perkes Holiday Ablaze Unveils Spectacular “Supershow” with Fireworks, Pyrotechnics, and Holiday Magic in North Logan

North Logan, Utah – November 18, 2025 – After five years of delighting Cache Valley with one of the region’s most impressive synchronized Christmas light displays, Dave Perkes is taking his beloved Perkes Holiday Ablaze to an entirely new level with the debut of the Perkes Holiday Ablaze “Supershow” – a one-of-a-kind walk-up holiday experience featuring moving lights, flames, fireworks, and a full rock-orchestra soundtrack.

What began as permanent Christmas lights on a retired electrical engineer’s home has evolved into a huge production powered by five networked computers controlling nearly 40,000 LED lights, six high-power moving spotlights, a display sign, and – new this year – professional flame effects and pyrotechnics inspired by Trans-Siberian Orchestra concerts.

“Once you catch the Christmas-light bug, there’s no cure,” says creator Dave Perkes. “All I think about is how to make it bigger and better. This year we’re inviting everyone to step out of their cars, brave the Utah winter, and experience the Supershow in person. It’s the closest thing Cache Valley has to a live holiday rock concert.”

The free Supershow events will be held on Sunday, November 23, Sunday, December 7, Sunday December 14 and Monday December 22 at 6:00 pm each night (additional dates and times may be announced on the Perkes Holiday Ablaze Web and Facebook pages and local news outlets). Unlike the drive-by radio-tuned show broadcast on 99.9 FM that runs nightly, the Supershow is designed for guests to gather on the street and feel the heat of the flames and the thrill of synchronized fireworks.

To bring these dramatic new elements to life safely, Perkes completed specialized training, passed state examinations, and secured multiple licenses from the Utah State Fire Marshal’s office as well as a Special Event Permit from the City of North Logan – a process that required six revised proposals and multiple trips to Salt Lake City.

A retired Northrop Grumman electrical engineer who spent decades developing high-tech infrared test equipment, Perkes says building Perkes Holiday Ablaze has been more complex than any project in his professional career. He designs every sequence using the free, community-developed software xLights, collaborates with a worldwide network of lighting enthusiasts, and begins planning the next season the moment the current one ends in January.

Each year Perkes hosts an invitation-only premiere party for neighbors, family, and dedicated fans. That tradition sparked the idea for a public walk-up spectacular that goes far beyond what viewers can experience from inside a warm car.

“I guarantee you’ll love it – or your money back,” Perkes jokes. “And since the show is completely free, you have nothing to lose except maybe a little feeling in your toes!”

Daily drive-by shows begin November 24 and run through New Year’s. Visitors simply park along the street, tune their car radio to 99.9 FM, and enjoy the music-synchronized light display from the comfort of their vehicles.
